If you are an Indian, you have heard of Titan. That is the kind of association this brand has with every Indian citizen in the world. One of the firsts and still the leading Indian watchmaker in the country, Titan has now become the fifth largest wrist watch manufacturer in the world. In India where it holds its leading position, there are various sub brands under it. Fastrack, Nebula, Raga, Regalia, Tanishq, Sonata Octane and Xylys are some of the brands which bear the legacy of Titan but serve different demographics of customers.

The watch making company is identified with the elite Tata group but in reality it is a joint venture between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation and Tata. With its headquarters at Bangalore, this company has watch making units in places like Goa, Dehradun, Hosur. It not only designs watches but also jewelry which is a part of the Tanishq brand name.

History of Raga

The Titan Raga sub brand was launched in the year 1992. The inspiration behind this collection was the Indian women. The brand wanted to launch collections exclusively for the women in India with design inspirations from ethnic India and nature. Today, the Titan Raga watches have their own range of collections, from sleek designs to stunning jewelry pieces adorned with Swarovski crystals and so forth.

While Aqua is the latest range amongst the Raga watches, there are several collections which have been launched since the origin of this sub brand.

The Desire collection

In 2006 the Desire collection was introduced in this sub brand. This range specializes in distinctive and feminine designs which are designed with the inspiration drawn from the elements of nature such as Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Thus, the various designs such as Dewdrop, Horizon, Starlight, Breeze, Flame are names given to each distinct inspiration style. These watches are priced from Rs. 2000 onwards and there are as many as thirteen distinct styles on this collection with thirty different models which come in gold, steel or bi metallic finishing.

Other features of this watch collection include the fact that the watch straps are designed as bracelets or kadas and the ordinary watch strap design is not present. These watches are marketed as jewelry pieces and hence, exclusivity of design and feminity of the elements is of essence. The bracelets or kadas come in patterned or textured form and have mother of pearl dials. The aesthetic designs are created by designers of the Titan Design Studio.

The Aqua collection

After the Desire collection in 2006, it is now time to focus on the Aqua collection for customers who step into Titan Raga showrooms. Unveiled in December 2010, if you are looking for latest designs of this sub brand to gift your lady love, this collection would provide you with the perfect choices. As the name signifies, the range of watches under this collection is inspired by the ocean and its mysterious properties. The watch designs are a blend of modernity along with tradition and would complement the grandeur of style and poise that today’s women are known to possess.

The designs of this collection draw their inspirations from mystical patterns of water, the legend of mermaids, intricate patterns of conch shells and the exotic nature of oysters. There are nine unique styles in this collection and altogether thirty models to choose from. Many watches in this range are adorned with Swarovski crystals, have dials made of mother of pearls, come in rose gold hues or steel finishing and so forth.

Thus, the Titan Raga watches are perfect gifts for the Indian women and carry with them the exclusivity and feminity that set them apart from other watch sub brands of the Titan stable.
